The sisters: a novel

Brewster, Elizabeth W.
The Sisters is a novel about growing up in small-town New Brunswick during the nineteen-thirties and forties. Elizabeth Brewster was herself born in Chipman, NB, and, like Jane, left the family home to go to the University of New Brunswick. She was one of the founders of Fiddlehead and has since taught English and creative writing, most recently at the University of Saskatchewan. She has published six collections of poetry, including Passage of Summer, Sunrise North and In Search of Eros. The Sisters is a story of hardship and pain, but above all it is a story of human things, with a strong and passionate sense of place. It is at once honest, without illusion, and full of love.
