MANDELISMS: Idle thoughts of David Mandel
David Mandel wrote the phrases and sentences that appear in this book, some seriously, some in jest, during different times, sometimes in laughter, and others in tears. He included them in my newsletter, Mi Enfoque, which he sent weekly to a group of friends, who were at first only a handful, but grew to more than 10,000 readers in 25 different countries. Some of his sentences might be considered controversial, but they are sincere. He does not hide his likes and dislikes, and he doesn’t avoid discussing controversial issues. All the entries in the book have in common the unconditional love the author feels for the Jewish people and the pride in the most outstanding achievement of the last two thousand years of its long existence: the State of Israel. The Bible says that "Israel is a land of milk and honey," and it is, but sometimes the milk is sour, and the honey comes with stings. Most important, whether or not the reader agrees with all or any of the author’s opinions, is to follow the advice of the wise King Solomon: "Eat your bread with pleasure and drink your wine with joy. And enjoy life with the woman you love," (Ecclesiastes 9:7-9).
