The Man Who Melted

Jack Dann
The Man Who Melted recounts the stunning odyssey of a man searching through the glittering, apocalyptic landscape of the next century for a woman lost to him in a worldwide outbreak of telepathic fear. It is a masterful vision of our future, of an era when people gamble for body parts; when thrills come in vast variety, ranging from a pleasure jaunt on the refitted HMS Titanic, bound again on a final, fatal cruise (suicide optional), to the ultimate exploration: experiencing electronically the thoughts of those already passed to the other side, past death.

The Sherwood game

Friesner, Esther M.
Steal from the real Carl Sherwood had always dreamed of being a swashbuckling hero. Alas, buckling that old swash is not so easy when the word "computer geek" could have been coined for you. And what's the use of being the sharpest AI software wizard at Manifest Inc. - purveyor of andromechs to the gentry, and the big player in virtual reality - when your social life consists of a VR suit and a six pack? But if Carl's real life scenario is a bust, his VR life is getting richer by the minute. Deep in the company computing system lurk the components of Carl's special baby, "The Sherwood Game, " complete with its welf-aware main character, Robin Hood. The Black Flame

Stanley Grauman Weinbaum
When THE BLACK FLAME was first published in 1939, Stanley G. Weinbaum has already been dead for three years. By that time, over 18,000 words had been excised or edited from the original manuscript. The intact manuscript, held by Sam Moskowitz, was auctioned off to Forrest J. Ackerman at the First World Science Fiction Convention in 1939. It was subsequently stolen from his collection & never recovered. The publication of this edition was made possible by the discovery of a carbon copy of the manuscript in a trunk of Weinbaum's papers found in the basement of his grandson's house in Denver, Colorado. Weinbaum burst onto the science fiction scene back in 1934, in the words of Isaac Asimov. "like a nova, capturing the imagination of the readers at once, altering the nature of science fiction & converting every other writer into an imitator."
