Algorithmic Shapeshifting Poems

Bogi Takács
Algorithmic Shapeshifting is the first poetry collection of Bogi Takács, winner of the Lambda award for editing Transcendent 2: The Year's Best Transgender Speculative Fiction, and finalist for the Hugo and Locus awards. The collection includes poems from the past decade and previously unpublished work. The scope of pieces extends from the present and past of Jewish life in Hungary and the United States to the far-future, outer-space reaches of the speculative—always with a sense of curiosity and wonder. “Bogi Takács is a poet of visceral exuberance and Talmudic invention. Moving as dazzlingly between genres as languages, e makes the reader eir kaleidoscope where ancient traditions, unenvisioned technologies, and children's toys tumble with ordinary, transcendent precision, imagining new ways of being and observing others signally extant. These poems draw blood and spark synapses, make dauntingly familiar and tenderly strange. You should let them change you.” Sonya Taaffe, author of Forget the Sleepless Shores “Bogi Takács's poetry is gleefully and unabashedly itself, pulling the reader through surreal worlds of visceral magic, body modification, political wit, and interpersonal devotion. Whether looking back into Talmudic history, forward into a science fictional psychic war, or sinking into the earth and growing flowers from its own eye sockets, "Algorithmic Shapeshifting" presents a voice that is consistently fresh, startling, and sincere.” Ada Hoffmann, author of The Outside

On the Way to Willowdale

Robert Loveman
âeoeOn the Way to Willowdale: Being Other Songs From a Georgia Garden, With Sonnet Interludesâe is a collection of poems by Robert Loveman, showcasing his lyrical style and deep appreciation for nature. Loveman, often compared to Robert Browning, infuses his work with vivid imagery and emotional depth. This collection presents a diverse range of subjects, from the delicate beauty of 'Morning Glories' and 'Sally Dahlia' to the dramatic intensity of a comet and tempest. Loveman's romantic sensibilities shine through in poems addressing themes of love and loss, such as 'slain my love, ' 'Mary Marigold, ' and 'Juliet.' The included sonnet interludes offer moments of introspective beauty, capturing fleeting moments of 'rapture' and 'ecstasy.' With its evocative language and timeless themes, "On the Way to Willowdale" remains a testament to Loveman's contribution to American poetry, inviting readers to revel in the 'SKIES AND BUTTERFLIES' and the 'toy of joy' found within the Georgia landscape. The feeling intellect: selected writings

Rieff, Philip
Counter Collected here for the first time, these writings demonstrate the range and precision of Philip Rieff's sociology of culture. Rieff addresses the rise of psychoanalytic and other spiritual disciplines that have reshaped contemporary culture. The organization of this volume reflects Rieff's major theoretical interests, beginning with a section of his writings on psychoanalysis. The second section, "Religion and Politics", contains three subsections on Judaism, Christianity, and political faiths and their futures, which introduce the reader to Rieff's lifelong reflections on the sacred in both religion and politics. Section three, "Intellectuals and Education", includes Rieff's little known essays on sociology combined with his pieces on the theory and practice of teaching. In the final section, "Culture and Character", Jonathan B. Imber has assembled Rieff's writings on the formulation of the current therapeutic culture. What emerges is Rieff's vision of what is highest in culture, namely, the recognition of authority in sacred order, which is the practice of pre-therapeutic social orders.
