Keith R. Ablow,Keith Ablow
HE HAS... West Crosse is a genius at creating spaces uniquely fitting the people who will inhabit them. The catch: he works under a shroud of secrecy, charges his clients a fortune, and then sometimes, in the most skillful and horrifying ways, he kills them... A MOST INTELLIGENT DESIGN.... West has the best of reasons. He's designing lives as well as homes, obliterating everything that is ugly, accidental, or ill-conceived. Forensic psychiatrist Frank Clevenger is hunting an outrageous serial killer whose victims seem to have only wealth in common. With his own life in shambles and the murderer two steps ahead of him, Clevenger can't know that the next killing ground will be the White House, where an innocent life just needs the perfect touch... Golden country: a novel

Gilmore, Jennifer
Spanning the first half of the twentieth century, Golden Country brings to life the intertwining stories of three Jewish immigrants seeking their fortunes--the handsome and ambitious Seymour, a salesman-turned-gangster-turned-Broadway-producer; the gentle and pragmatic Joseph, a door-to-door salesman who is driven to invent a cleanser effective enough to wipe away the shame of his brother's mob connections; and the irresistible Frances Gold, who grows up in Brooklyn, stars in Seymour's first show, and marries the man who invents television. Their three families, though inextricably connected for years, are brought together for the first time by the engagement of Seymour's son and Joseph's daughter. David and Miriam's marriage must endure the inheritance of not only their parents' wealth but also the burdens of their past. As Gilmore's characters witness and shape history, they come to embody America's greatness, as well as its greatest imperfections.--From publisher description.

Witchery: a Ghosts of Albion novel

Benson, Amber
“A fabulously entertaining combination of Victorian conventions, sensuous undertones, and some seriously evil magic.” –Charlaine Harris, author of Dead to the World, on Ghosts of Albion: Accursed Before you can save Albion, you must destroy the poison in its black heart. William and Tamara Swift’s newfound sorcerous powers as Protectors of Albion pale before the demonic forces threatening Britannia. But William and Tamara have formidable allies in Lord Byron, Queen Bodicea, and Lord Admiral Nelson–England’s noble, notorious Ghosts of Albion. Responding to a plea from Cornwall, Tamara discovers that the rumors of young women, both human and fairy, vanishing without a trace are horribly true. Instead of hard clues, she uncovers only whispers of witches, infernal abductions, and a pyre of innocents planned for the solstice. Indeed, Tamara has never faced a more dangerous task–for the legendary land of King Arthur’s Camelot also harbors dark, bloody deeds and a waking evil. Soon nothing, not even mighty Albion, will be safe from the deadly peril. Amber Benson , who immortalized Tara in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Christopher Golden , Bram Stoker Award—winning author of the Shadow Saga, have created a voluptuous, twisted thriller. Based on the BBC Web series that became a smash hit in England, Ghosts of Albion: Witchery brings to life a sizzling, ninteenth century world of fiends, phantoms, and spine-tingling terror. Praise for Ghosts of Albion: Accursed “Demons, bodice-ripping passion, and some good old murky London gloom; all one can ask for in a dark night’s reading.” –Kirkus Reviews “Equal doses of dark humor and genuine horror.” –Library Journal

Ruth and her law-student neighbor have been a twosome for years, but they have a little misunderstanding; when the smoke clears, she is married to her kindly employer, who has thoughtfully divorced his wife. The Riddle of the Sands (SeaWolf Press Illustrated Classic)

Erskine Childers
A nice edition with all the original charts and illustrations, and a cover based on the first edition cover. The Riddle of the Sands: A Record of Secret Service is a 1903 novel by Erskine Childers. The book, extremely popular before World War I, is an early example of the espionage novel and was extremely influential in the genre of spy fiction. It was a spy novel that "established a formula that included a mass of verifiable detail, which gave authenticity to the story – the same ploy that would be used so well by John Buchan, Ian Fleming, John le Carré and many others." The physical background is completely authentic - the various Frisian islands and towns named in the book actually exist and the descriptions of them accurate. The same is true for the various "sands" of the title - vast areas which are flooded at high tide but become mudflats at ebb. Navigating a small boat under these conditions requires a specialized kind of skilled seamanship. The plot slowly reveals a suspicion that the Germans are undertaking something sinister in the German Frisian islands. The book has been made into feature-length films for both cinema and television.
