I and Thou

Martin Buber
2010 Reprint of 1937 American Edition. I and Thou, perhaps Buber's most famous work, was first published in 1923, and translated to English in 1937. Buber's main proposition is that we may address existence in two ways: [1] that of the "I" towards an "It", towards an object that is separate in itself, which we either use or experience; [2] that of the 'I' towards 'Thou', in which we move into existence in a relationship without bounds. One of the major themes of the book is that human life finds its meaningfulness in relationships. All of our relationships, Buber contends, bring us ultimately into relationship with God, who is the Eternal Thou.

Talking to God Personal Prayers for Times of Joy, Sadness, Struggle, and Celebration

Naomi Levy
After the publication of her best-selling book To Begin Again, Naomi Levy received a flood of feedback from readers telling her how much the prayers in it had helped and moved them. Many urged her to publish a collection of her prayers—and now she has. In a time when we all need inspiration, comfort, and connection, Talking to God will help us reclaim prayer as an integral part of our lives, making it as natural and uninhibited as talking to our loved ones. Prayer is essential to the lives of millions, but many of us are searching for ways to supplement traditional prayers with ones that are less formal and more intimate. Written in a simple and direct style, the prayers in this book—and the wonderful stories that accompany them—are for people of all faiths, and for all occasions large and small. Naomi Levy’s personal prayers address the anxieties and roadblocks we all face in contemporary life. There are prayers for facing a new day, realizing one’s potential at work, celebrating an anniversary or birthday, and going to sleep at night. And there are prayers for the more profound occurrences in life—love and marriage, pregnancy and childbirth, illness, loss, and death. Rabbi Levy’s words, imbued with grace and empathy, touch on the entire range of human experience. Many of us will recognize ourselves in her prayers and stories and will be comforted by them, as well as challenged and uplifted. Perhaps most important, they are stepping-stones for us to go on and create our own prayers, to find meaning in our own lives, and to begin or renew our own relationships with God. The Overcomers

Richard Wurmbrand
Formerly titled "In the Face of Surrender," this updated, revised book is a compendium of short, simple stories of the love and strength of ordinary Christians who reflected the extrordinary love of Christ in the face of unspeakable evil, even if it cost them their lives. Pastor Wurmbrand calls these Christians, "the persecuted saints," and rather than be horrifed by the stories of atrocities they suffered, many of which he personally witnessed, he found grace, peace, and triumph in them. Moreover, he leads the reader into this same perspective. The effect is both inspiring and humbling.

Due Process A Plea for Biblical Justice Among God's People

Daniel C. Juster Th. D.
We read of the Messiah in Isaiah 42-"He will bring forth justice for truth. He will not fail nor be discouraged, till He has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands shall wait for His law." If what these verses describe is the orientation of Jesus, it should be ours as well. If justice is to be established on the earth, His followers must be a community of love and justice. Since the first publication of this book in the early 1990s, we still have not seen a shift in the Body on the issues of character standards, congregational discipline, due process, and discipleship. Dallas Willard and others have written passionately about discipleship and its foundation in obeying the commandments of Jesus. Yet discipleship is rare, and the definition of love as indulgence is increasing. Love itself is wrongly defined, along with forgiveness, leading the indulging people into sin. May God use this book to make some contribution toward the path of righteousness.

The Little Boy Down the Road Short Stories & Essays on the Beauty of Family Life

Douglas W. Phillips
The most beautiful and life-changing stories are not found in the pages of newspapers, but in the everyday events in the life of the Christian family. They are the stories of boys who long for their fathers, of husbands who become better men because of the love of faithful brides, and of little girls who learn to dream great dreams for God. These are moments that really matter -- the ones that count for eternity. ''The Little Boy Down the Road'' is a collection of humorous and thought-provoking short stories and essays on family and fatherhood that reveal the beauty of the Christian household. It is a book about the nobility of the commonplace events in life and the special epiphanies of parenthood -- the moments of supreme clarity where parents realize, as if coming out of a slumber-- the inexpressible preciousness of the Christian family and the unbounding love of Christ to shower sinful men with such earthly joys.
