Martin Zweig's winning on Wall Street

Zweig, Martin E.
Zweig's "proven methods for market forecasting and stock selection" are presented in a simplified version of the approach he uses in his Zweig Forecast newsletter calculations. Tables show how well an investor would have done by following the buy or sell signals for his Super Model, which is constructed of various "monetary" and "momentum" indicators. He also subjects his decisions to "sentiment" and "seasonal" indicators. Scan earnings reports, he advises, be flexible, have patience and discipline, set stop orders, and "don't fight the tape." The drawback, common to all such systems, is that transaction costs and taxes are ignored. Nor does Zweig's claim that his model can be accomplished on one transaction per year square with his admonition to diversify into several stocks. On balance, however, the concepts are clearly presented, and his success will probably create a demand.

Short selling for the long term: how a combination of short and long positions leads to investing success

Parnes, Joseph
"This book describes the methods used by Joseph Parnes, President of Technomart, to obtain consistent returns in the stock market. Most investors fail to exceed the returns represented by the Standard and Poor's Stock Index, but Parnes often does using his investment philosophy. This book outlines his method of stock assessment, providing an understandable formula. If the formula tells a reader to buy a stock, then, as explained, there is a significant chance that stock will go up. If the formula tells a reader to short a stock, then the book shows how there is a significant chance that the stock will go down"--

The Secret Code of the Superior Investor How to Be a Long-Term Winner in a Short-Term World

James K. Glassman
What should your investment strategy be now that the steady, upward trend of the U.S. stock market seems like history? The years ahead promise to be volatile, full of ups and downs, so is this the time for investors to hunker down and scale back? Not at all, is Jim Glassman’s advice. Sure, there were some people who bailed out of the market early and came out ahead, but that was luck—the kind of luck that wins the lottery once in a blue moon: it’s not a strategy. And if there is one clear lesson to be learned from all of the recent market drama, it’s that you need a point of view and a coherent investment strategy. And that’s just what Glassman provides in The Secret Code of the Superior Investor. If you believe that the long-term outlook for the American economy is positive (as Glassman and most experts do), then the best strategy is the tried-and-true approach that has worked well for more than a hundred years: acquiring a diversified portfolio of stocks in great companies and then holding on to them forever. Jim Glassman’s investing principles provide the ballast to help you keep your investing balance no matter how the markets bubble or bobble. His rigorous, practical, straightforward way of thinking and taking action enables you to build a portfolio that performs well no matter what the economic climate. Here is invaluable advice on what stocks and mutual funds to buy—and when to sell them. (Hint: Almost never.)

An Essay On The Influence Of A Low Price Of Corn On The Profits Of Stock (1815)

Ricardo, David
""An Essay On The Influence Of A Low Price Of Corn On The Profits Of Stock"" is a book written by David Ricardo in 1815. The book discusses the relationship between the price of corn and the profits of stock, focusing on the impact of a low price of corn on the economy. Ricardo argues that a low price of corn can lead to higher profits for stockholders, as it reduces the cost of labor and increases the demand for manufactured goods. He also discusses the potential negative effects of a low price of corn, such as the impact on farmers and the potential for social unrest. The book is considered a classic work in the field of economics and is still widely studied and referenced today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
